Igor Jesus joined Nottingham Forest from Botafogo for around £10m last summer on a four-year deal, arriving off the back of winning the Brazilian Serie A title and the Copa Libertadores, and quickly established himself as a first-team regular.
According to Brazilian outlet Trivela, Forest have already rebuffed interest from all three suitors this window, with the club unwilling to even entertain offers given how highly the 24-year-old is rated internally.
The report also sheds light on how Oliver Glasner, appointed as Forest's new manager in July following his departure from Crystal Palace, intends to use Jesus this season: not as an out-and-out striker, but further back as one of two attacking midfielders supporting a central forward.
Whether that forward is Wood remains an open question. The New Zealander scored freely two seasons ago and retains the club's trust, but with his 35th birthday in December and a knee problem that has lingered, Forest have kept looking at alternatives who could offer a more physical presence through the middle.
Elsewhere at the City Ground, centre-back Morato has also received a promising update regarding his prospects under the new manager. Trivela reports that representatives for the Brazilian, who joined from Benfica in August 2024 after winning the Primeira Liga title in Lisbon, are optimistic about working with Glasner given his track record of developing centre-backs, pointing to Marc Guehi and Maxence Lacroix as players who both improved significantly under the Austrian during his time at Crystal Palace.
Morato is expected to start the season as Forest's fourth-choice centre-back, though that could change before long.
He has already been getting regular minutes during pre-season while Murillo has been unavailable, and with the other players competing for centre-back spots — Zach Abbott, Tyler Bindon and Jair — all aged just 20 or 21, there is a clear route for the more experienced Morato to force his way up the pecking order once Glasner settles on his preferred defensive setup for the new campaign, having already led Palace to an FA Cup, Community Shield and Conference League treble across his two and a half years in south London.
