Ezri Konsa celebrated his first goal for Arsenal after helping the champions beat Everton 2-0, with the defender also praising Gabriel Magalhaes and the team's home form.

Konsa opened the scoring inside seven minutes, finishing from close range after a corner caused confusion in the Everton penalty area. Gabriel then sealed the victory in the 68th minute, heading home Ben White's cross on his 200th Premier League appearance.

Speaking to PLP, Konsa was pleased to contribute at both ends of the pitch.

“Great feeling, it always is. A clean sheet, a goal - my first goal for the club - so a fantastic day overall.”

The defender revealed that he had discussed the possibility of scoring with Arsenal's set-piece coach before the match. The goal also came after the team had created several opportunities from dead-ball situations during their midweek draw with Bayern Munich.

“I've been waiting to score my first goal for a while. I spoke to the set piece coach before the game and he told me he's been waiting for my goal as well, so it was only right that I got the goal today.”

Konsa felt Arsenal's work on set pieces was beginning to pay off after the chances created against Bayern, with the Everton match providing the breakthrough.

“Yeah, definitely after the game against Bayern, where we created a few chances with our set pieces.

“We felt as players that it was coming and today was the day.”

The victory was made more significant by the fact that Gabriel scored after appearing to suffer a knock earlier in the match. The Brazilian received treatment but continued playing, then rose to meet White's cross and double Arsenal's lead.

Konsa was delighted to see his defensive partner make such an impact.

“Very pleased for him. He's a top, top player. Top human being. Very happy for him. He's my life easy since I've joined the club and it's been a pleasure playing alongside him.”

Arsenal's clean sheet continued a strong run at the Emirates Stadium, where Konsa said the difficulty of playing against the team was no surprise to him.

“I've come to this stadium for many seasons, I know how tough it is to play against us. It's not surprising to me.

“We are champions and to be champions you've got to win games consistently. This is our home and we want to win as many games here as possible.”

The result gave Arsenal a seventh league victory from their opening eight matches and moved them level on points with Manchester City. For Konsa, his first goal for the club made an already important afternoon even more memorable.
