Antoine Semenyo has revealed the importance of preparation, discipline and daily routines as he continues his build-up to the new Premier League season.
The Manchester City and Ghana international was speaking in Hong Kong during an event hosted by English tea brand Ahmad Tea, where he discussed the mentality required to compete at the highest level while taking part in a tea-tasting masterclass as part of the company's 'Preparation is Everything' campaign.
Reflecting on the work that goes into every season before a competitive ball is kicked, Semenyo stressed that success begins long before matchday.
"Preparation is one of the most important parts of my career," Semenyo told Football Presse.
"What people see on matchday is only a small part of the work."
"It all comes from the routines, discipline and mindset developed long before kick-off."
The Ghana international explained that pre-season provides the opportunity to establish the habits that will carry him through the campaign ahead.
"I am working hard during pre-season on those processes to develop and improve everyday habits to be ready for a big season ahead."

The event, held in Kowloon Bay, celebrated the similarities between elite athletes and expert tea blenders, with guests taking part in a guided tasting session led by Ahmad Tea Senior Tea Taster Dominic Marriott.
Ahmad Tea's Head of Global Marketing, Tracey Wakelin, said the campaign focused on the unseen work that underpins success.
"It was a privilege to welcome Antoine to Hong Kong and bring together media and partners to celebrate the values at the heart of our 'Preparation is Everything' campaign."
"Whether preparing for a season at the highest level of football or delivering the perfect cup of tea, it's often the work that goes unseen that makes the greatest difference."
"From carefully selecting and balancing teas from different origins to ensuring every blend is crafted with precision and brewed with care."
The campaign draws parallels between the meticulous preparation required in elite sport and the craftsmanship involved in creating every Ahmad Tea blend, highlighting the discipline, patience and attention to detail that underpin consistent performance.
For Semenyo, the message was simple. The performances supporters enjoy every weekend are built on routines, discipline and preparation long before kick-off, and he hopes those habits will lay the foundations for another successful season with Manchester City and Ghana.
