Everton and Brentford eye Palmeiras striker Flaco López

Everton and Brentford have made initial enquiries for Palmeiras forward José Manuel López — known as Flaco López — as both clubs look to strengthen their attack this summer.

According to reports from Bolavip, the 25-year-old Argentine has been in outstanding form in 2026, contributing nine goals and six assists in 21 appearances. Over his four years at the São Paulo club he has now scored 66 goals in 198 appearances — numbers that have attracted sustained attention across Europe.

Everton's interest is driven by need.

David Moyes' side have struggled for goals this season and scouts have reportedly been watching López in person over recent months. Brentford's motivation is different — they view the Argentine as a potential long-term successor to Igor Thiago, with the Brazilian striker expected to attract significant summer interest.

Neither club has submitted a formal bid. But the initial contact with López's representatives marks a step forward from simple monitoring.

They are not alone in watching. Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and Fulham had previously been credited with interest, while Atlético de Madrid are also keeping tabs. The Premier League, however, is where the player wants to go — his camp have made clear that England is his preferred next destination.

What makes López appealing is his profile.

At 6ft 2in, he offers aerial ability and hold-up play. He is also creative for a centre-forward, operating at times as a second striker or deeper forward, crafting opportunities for those around him. Comparisons to Roberto Firmino in terms of movement and intelligence are not unfair. His finishing, meanwhile, has sharpened considerably over the past 18 months.

Palmeiras are not moving cheaply.

The Brazilian side own 70% of his economic rights, his contract runs until 2029, and their asking price sits between €40 and €45 million. Crucially, they are prepared to wait — possibly until after the World Cup, where a strong tournament for Argentina could push his value higher still.

The race is forming. Palmeiras hold the cards.
