Former Bolton Wanderers and Chelsea scout Dave Worthington recalls how he recommended a teenage Karim Benzema to both of his former clubs.
Benzema was playing for Olympique Lyon's academy at the time when Worthington urged Bolton to snap up the striker.
However, then Bolton chairman Phil Gartside chose to turn down the chance.
Worthington discovered the same approach at Chelsea, where he again was frustrated when urging the Blues to sign Benzema.
The French centre-forward would go onto win every trophy in the game with Real Madrid, where he also captained the LaLiga giants and won the Ballon d'Or.
