The 41-year-old, who sits 24 goals short of 1,000 for club and country, told Vogue in an interview about the wedding that he wants to close out his career on his own terms.
"This is probably my last year of football, and I want to leave a spectacular legacy," Cristiano Ronaldo said.
Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez married on Tuesday in an intimate ceremony, and the Portugal captain suggested the milestone has sharpened his focus on life beyond the game.
"I have my future all mapped out. I have so many things to keep me busy that to tell you just one thing is hard. Because football could leave a big hole, you have to fill your time in various ways, not just one," he said.
"Have more fun, travel more, watch and play padel, which I really like, and continue to enjoy what I've earned - what we've earned. Because after all it's been 25 years with a lot of sacrifice."
The comments cap a career that has brought five Ballon d'Or awards, five Champions League titles and league championships in England, Spain, Italy and Saudi Arabia. Ronaldo also holds the record for goals scored in men's international football and remains Portugal's captain heading into the final stretch of his playing days.
He has spent almost four years at Al-Nassr, where he has one year left on his contract, having moved to the Saudi Pro League in December 2022. The Riyadh club opened the defence of their title with a 3-0 win over Al Fateh on Saturday, but Ronaldo, who only returned to training this week following the wedding, watched on from the stands alongside his family as goals from Ângelo, João Félix and Samú Costa secured the points.
His long-time rival Lionel Messi, the record eight-time Ballon d'Or winner, has also recently admitted he is unsure how much longer he will continue playing. The pair's paths diverged sharply at this summer's World Cup: Messi scored eight goals as Argentina reached the final, while Ronaldo's Portugal exited in the round of 16.
Asked in July whether that tournament, his sixth World Cup, would prove to be his last, Ronaldo said he would make the call "with a calm head" after talking things over with his family. Whether Saturday's absence was an early sign of a season built around fewer appearances remains to be seen, but for now Ronaldo's focus is on reaching four figures in front of goal before he decides the time is right to step away.
