The London Evening Standard report no club has entered serious talks with Chelsea over signing Neto throughout the transfer window, and while the Blues would be willing to listen to a significant offer, they are not actively looking to move him on. A report last week claimed Tottenham had made an enquiry over his availability, though that has been disputed by sources at both clubs.
Speculation over Neto's future has intensified following Chelsea's £117m deal to sign Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa, with the England international expected to feature heavily on the left flank – Neto's favoured position.
That has led to suggestions the 26-year-old could find game time harder to come by in the 2026-27 season, particularly with Alejandro Garnacho having also arrived as competition on the wing before his departure on loan to Aston Villa.
Neto joined Chelsea from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer of 2024 in a deal worth around £54m, a fee that was a club-record sale for Wolves at the time. He made 46 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring six goals, but struggled to establish himself as a first-choice starter amid inconsistent form, and played under three different head coaches – Enzo Maresca, Calum McFarlane and Liam Rosenior – across a turbulent campaign at the club.
With Rogers now confirmed as a Chelsea player, Neto could find himself further down the pecking order under new head coach Xabi Alonso, who has been assessing his attacking options throughout pre-season.
The winger, who has 10 caps for Portugal and featured at Euro 2024, still has five years remaining on the seven-year contract he signed upon joining from Wolves.
Chelsea have been busy reshaping their squad this summer, with Marc Cucurella and Trevoh Chalobah among those to have departed Stamford Bridge, while Alonso continues to work out exactly where Neto fits into his plans as pre-season progresses ahead of the new Premier League campaign under the Spaniard.
