Chelsea have emerged as the frontrunners in the race to sign Tornike Kvaratskhelia, the 16-year-old Georgian winger who is drawing comparisons with his older brother Khvicha, according to journalist Graeme Bailey.
The Dinamo Tbilisi teenager has stepped up to the senior squad in recent months and is already attracting attention from some of Europe's most powerful clubs. Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have all made contact over a potential move, while Brighton and Aston Villa are also monitoring his progress.
Arsenal and Newcastle have also been linked, with both clubs having recently invested in Georgian talent.
Bayern Munich remain firmly in the picture having hosted the player for a trial earlier this summer. Sporting director Christoph Freund confirmed in May that the younger Kvaratskhelia had trained with the club and featured in a friendly match, though he was careful to manage expectations.
"He's still a young lad, he has talent. Whether he's as good as his brother, who is outstanding, a world-class player, that would be an exaggeration," Freund said.
The parallels with his brother's career path are striking. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia also came through Dinamo Tbilisi's academy before leaving Georgia to build his reputation in Russia, then Italy and ultimately France, where he is now a key figure at Paris Saint-Germain. Tornike is following a similar trajectory, having already represented Georgia at Under-17 level during 2026 European Championship qualification.
Calciomercato.com highlighted his "blistering dribbling, swerving, and pace" alongside a "brilliant shot" that has produced important goals from set pieces. He is a left-footed winger who prefers to operate from the right flank, cutting inside onto his stronger foot in the manner of his sibling.
Any English club hoping to sign him will need patience. Under FIFA rules governing international transfers of minors, a move to the Premier League cannot take place until he turns 18 in February 2028. That means the current scramble is effectively a race to secure pre-contractual agreements or informal commitments rather than an immediate transfer.
Kvaratskhelia's contract with Dinamo Tbilisi runs until 2028, giving the Georgian club a strong negotiating position as they field interest from across the continent.
Chelsea's extensive scouting network and track record of investing in young talent may give them an edge, though Bayern's existing relationship with the player and his family could yet prove decisive.
