Terms were struck with Corinthians back in March 2025, but Chelsea had to sit on the agreement until Denner Alves Evangelista Pereira turned 18 before he could legally relocate to England — a wait that finally ended this week with the transfer announced despite Tuesday's deadline having already passed for permanent domestic business.
The left-back, who plays under the single name Denner, has signed a contract running until 2034 and will join Chelsea's newly rebranded Under-21 setup, Cobham Next Gen.
The fee is expected to land around £10m, a notable outlay given Denner is yet to make a single senior appearance for Corinthians. Chelsea's interest was sparked by his performances at the prestigious Copinha youth tournament, where he scored three goals and added an assist while playing at full-back.
He joined Corinthians' academy at 13 and was fast-tracked into their Under-20s at 16, going on to help the side reach the final of the São Paulo Youth Cup and winning the South American Under-17 Championship with Brazil in 2025.
Family connections run through the deal too — Denner is a cousin of Arsenal centre-back Gabriel Magalhães, and Chelsea will hope the pedigree translates into a similarly successful path through English football.
He can operate on either flank, though his primary position is left-back, and Corinthians are understood to have retained a sell-on clause worth around 15 per cent of any future transfer.
Given the volume of young South American talent Chelsea have brought in over recent windows, Denner's arrival has slipped under the radar compared with signings such as Estêvão, whose move generated far more attention. The deal nonetheless caps an extraordinary summer of business at Stamford Bridge, one that has already seen the club spend more than £300m on senior recruits while banking well over £400m from outgoing deals.
He joins a Cobham Next Gen intake that has already welcomed fellow academy arrivals Harrison Bettoni and Alfie Osborne earlier in the summer, continuing Chelsea's strategy of stockpiling promising teenagers years before they are likely to feature anywhere near the first team.
Whether Denner ultimately breaks into contention at Stamford Bridge or, like several of his predecessors, is eventually sold on for a significant profit remains to be seen, but the length of his new contract underlines the scale of the club's long-term investment in him.
