Malik Jakupović is attracting interest from several European clubs after making an encouraging start to life in Philadelphia Union’s senior team.

Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea, RB Salzburg and VfB Stuttgart are all reportedly monitoring the 17-year-old striker, who has already made eight Major League Soccer appearances this season.

Jakupović has scored once and provided an assist, with all eight appearances coming as a substitute. His limited minutes have nevertheless been enough to put him on the radar of clubs looking to recruit promising young forwards.

According to Sky, Dortmund have been following the American teenager closely and made an offer worth between €2 million and €3 million during the summer. Philadelphia rejected the bid, with the MLS club placing a substantially higher valuation on their prospect.

The German club have continued to monitor Jakupović’s progress, but face competition from Chelsea and two other European sides. Salzburg have a track record of developing young players, while Stuttgart are also reported to have shown interest.

Philadelphia are understood to want a fee approaching 100 million Swedish kronor, equivalent to a substantial seven-figure euro sum. That valuation would represent a significant increase on Dortmund’s reported summer offer.

Jakupović is under contract with Philadelphia until the summer of 2030, giving the American club a strong negotiating position. Any potential move would therefore depend on whether an interested side is prepared to meet their demands.

The teenager has also made an impression at international level. He has scored 12 goals in nine appearances for the United States Under-17 team, a return that has strengthened his reputation as one of the country’s promising attacking prospects.

For Dortmund, the interest fits a longer-term search for attacking talent, rather than signalling an imminent transfer. Chelsea, Salzburg and Stuttgart will likewise need to weigh the cost of a deal against Jakupović’s potential and the development opportunities they can offer him.

Philadelphia have so far resisted attempts to prise him away. With his contract running until 2030, the club are under no immediate pressure to sell, and the competition for his signature could push any future negotiations well beyond Dortmund’s previous offer.
