"Today, compared to the previous friendlies, we made more mistakes โ the pre-season programme is very demanding and the manager asks a lot of us physically. Every coach has his own requirements, Juric prefers man-to-man football, but doing it the right way is very complicated. I'm completely at the squad's disposal and I'm ready to play in any role," he told TuttoMonza.
With Serie A now less than a month away, Carboni also looked back on his own part in the club's promotion from Serie B.
"The goal at Castellammare was decisive and it will give me strong motivation heading into the season that's about to start โ it's a goal that will stay in Monza's history forever. We're settling in well with the new signings and we're trying to help them, a lot of them are young, but I'm sure they'll give us a big hand.
"The league is almost here now, these are the real tests, and even a defeat like today's helps prepare us for Serie A. They were better than us today, especially further forward. It will be crucial to start well, because the games from August to October are often the most important."
Monza's midfield is also being strengthened by the arrival of Ebenezer Akinsanmiro from Inter Milan, in a permanent deal worth โฌ7.5m plus a 10% sell-on clause, with no buy-back option for the Nerazzurri.
Crescenzo Cecere, the Nigerian midfielder's agent, detailed how the move came together.
"The negotiation started a long time ago, they'd already asked me about it back in February-March, but at that point he was at the Africa Cup of Nations, we had teams abroad interested and I saw it as impossible. Recently, though, the pressure from the club's management and from Baldissoni... Juric's call was decisive, I'm pleased he's staying in Italy, we've made an excellent choice. He's a lad who still has to grow, but Monza have made a very good investment."
Akinsanmiro, 22, made 24 appearances on loan at Pisa last season before their relegation.
Monza are not stopping there. According to Tuttosport, the club are also working to bring in French midfielder Yanis Massolin, who joined Inter after a season on loan at Modena, this time on loan terms rather than a permanent deal.
In goal, the Biancorossi are closing in on Como's Emil Audero, who returns to Como after a season on loan at Cremonese in Serie A.
