The 20-year-old Sweden international endured a difficult 2025-26 season at Spurs, spending significant stretches on the bench after new manager Roberto De Zerbi took charge in late March.
De Zerbi inherited a struggling squad and guided Tottenham to Premier League survival on the final day of the season, but showed limited faith in Bergvall during that run-in.
Speaking to Fotbollskanalen, Bergvall was measured but candid about the season as a whole.
"It's been a tough season for me and the team, with injuries and so on. It's nice to turn the page and focus on the World Cup," he said.
Asked directly about a potential move away from Tottenham this summer, Bergvall kept his answer brief and pointed.
"It's nothing I'm focusing on right now. It's been a tough season, as I said. But now the focus is on the World Cup and being here," the midfielder said.
On De Zerbi's decision-making — and the question of whether the coach could be trusted — Bergvall chose to be diplomatic.
"I trust that he puts out the best team to win matches. I'm happy that we stayed up."
Bergvall is contracted at Tottenham until the summer of 2031 — an unusually long commitment for a player at his stage of development. That security limits any urgency on Spurs' part to sell.
De Zerbi has moved quickly in the market since taking permanent charge, bringing in Andrew Robertson on a free transfer and closing in on Marcos Senesi from Bournemouth to bolster the defence. Whether the Italian views Bergvall as part of his long-term plans at White Hart Lane is a question that the summer will begin to answer.
For now, Bergvall wants to play at the World Cup for Sweden. What happens next is a conversation for later.
