Brian Fariñas is expected to leave Barcelona this summer after becoming one of the standout players in the club's reserve setup while the path to Hansi Flick's first team remained firmly closed.

According to Sport, the 20-year-old midfielder has received multiple offers from the market and is exploring his options. Barcelona's sporting department is open to a sale, with the club valuing Fariñas at around €3 million.

Fariñas started out at hometown club CD Benicarló before a spell in Villarreal's academy, joining Barcelona's youth system at the Infantil A level. He has been regarded as one of the most complete midfielders in his generation within La Masia for several years, praised by coaches for his tactical intelligence, positional awareness and ability to control tempo.

This season he was one of Barça Atlètic's undisputed starters under head coach Juliano Belletti, making 33 of 34 possible appearances and contributing five goals and seven assists. He served as one of the team's captains.

The difficulty is that Barça Atlètic competes in the Segunda RFEF — the fourth tier of Spanish football — and at 20, remaining at that level for another season is increasingly seen as inadequate for his development.

Fariñas extended his contract twice, most recently last summer, tying him to the club until 2028. Despite that commitment from both sides, the situation has shifted quickly. With Flick preferring to look elsewhere for reinforcements and first-team opportunities not forthcoming even in training sessions on a regular basis, the player and club have reached a mutual understanding that a move is in his best interests.

Barça Atlètic is expected to undergo significant change this summer, with over half of the squad potentially leaving following a difficult campaign.

For Fariñas, who has been compared favourably to Pedri in terms of his reading of the game, the next step will define whether La Masia's faith in him is ultimately vindicated at a higher level.
