The German forward, 22, has quietly been leading the line at Brugge and is averaging a goal a game as the Belgian league season gets under way, continuing a trend rather than enjoying a one-off purple patch.
He was similarly influential last season, finishing as the Belgian top flight's leading scorer with 19 goals as Brugge won the title — a remarkable return for a forward who was still only 21 at the time.
With Barcelona facing a genuine crisis of options up front, Tresoldi has emerged as a potential solution. Transfermarkt values him at €25million, but Brugge would not be willing to let him leave for anything less than €45million, according to reports in Spain.
The forward is under contract at the Belgian club until June 2029, giving them little pressure to sell below their valuation.
Atletico Madrid have also entered the picture as interested suitors. With Julián Álvarez's situation at the club growing increasingly complicated, and question marks persisting over whether Alexander Sørloth is the long-term answer up front, Tresoldi's name has gained traction as a potential replacement for the Argentine, should his exit ultimately materialise.
Both Spanish clubs face genuine competition for his signature, with Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal all having made contact over his situation this summer. That widening interest has strengthened Brugge's negotiating position, having already turned down an offer worth around €35million from Roma earlier in the window.
Tresoldi joined Brugge from Hannover 96 in the summer of 2025 for a fee in the region of €7.5million, a deal that already looks like exceptional business given his rapid development in Belgian football.
Should either Barcelona or Atlético follow through with a move before the transfer window closes, the fee required would represent a considerable multiple of what Brugge originally paid for him just over a year ago.
For Barcelona, the interest in Tresoldi reflects the difficulty of their pursuit of Álvarez, whom Atlético have consistently refused to sell to a domestic rival regardless of fee.
Having already lost Robert Lewandowski on a free transfer and seen Ferran Torres depart for Paris Saint-Germain, Hansi Flick's side are working against the clock to find a recognised centre-forward before the market shuts, with Sporting Lisbon's Luis Suárez understood to be another option under consideration alongside Tresoldi.
