Adzic struck a stoppage-time winner as Sassuolo came from behind to beat Juventus 3-2 at the Mapei Stadium, having joined the Emilian club from the Turin giants only a month earlier.
Speaking in his post-match press conference, Adzic admitted the goal carried a strange mix of feelings.
"I scored against my Juve, I can say that, but I'm happy for this win with Sassuolo," Adzic said. "We have to keep going like this because we're a strong team."
Asked what would change for him from the following day, the young forward preferred to focus only on the present.
"That's a good question, but I don't know how to answer, because that's not my job. I'll always try to give my best in every match, and what happens in the future I don't know and I don't want to think about it, because nobody knows. I take it day by day."
Adzic credited head coach Alberto Aquilani for instilling belief throughout the squad, particularly in younger players.
"I can only speak well of Aquilani because he has very clear ideas, and as you hear in every press conference, he always talks about courage, meaning that in every match we have to be brave. Today, and also against Bologna, we were, and we picked up points. In the opening matches we didn't get the points we deserved, but the manager has very clear ideas, he helps us young players a lot, and we can do great things."
The forward, who spent two seasons at Juventus before his move, revealed he had spoken with his former coach after the match.
"I spoke with the manager because he was here, we crossed paths at the interviews. Now I'll say hello to everyone, because I was at Juventus for two years and I have to say goodbye and wish them the best for the season."
Adzic also praised the performance of his former team-mate Edon Zhegrova, who scored twice for Juventus.
"Juventus are always dangerous, I know the manager's style of play well, and as we saw today, they scored two goals within a minute of each other. But I was surprised I had so much space, and I missed chances close to goal. The third time I couldn't miss. I think Juventus put in a great performance, and I also want to congratulate Zhegrova, a friend of mine, who made the difference. I hope he keeps it up."
The 20-year-old also spoke about the influence of veteran midfielder Nemanja Matic, who provided the assist for Sassuolo's opening goal.
"Matic congratulated me. He's an extraordinary person who helps me a lot, he has incredible experience, and we young players want to become like him, having played in the Premier League for nine seasons. He helps me in every aspect, I feel fully trusted, I want to improve and take the best from him. We also saw his assist tonight for the first goal, and I'm happy to be growing alongside him and the others."
