West Ham United have confirmed the release of nine players following their relegation from the Premier League, with winger Adama Traoré, veteran goalkeeper Łukasz Fabiański and Chelsea loanee Axel Disasi among the senior departures.

The Hammers were relegated on the final day of the Premier League season when Tottenham Hotspur's 1-0 win over Everton confirmed the outcome, ending West Ham's fourteen-year run in the top flight.

Traoré, 30, joined the club from Fulham in January 2026 for an undisclosed fee but made just nine league appearances and contributed nothing in front of goal. His spell was undermined by injury and a below-par level of form that never matched the player who had been so effective at Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier in his career.

Fabiański, 41, had initially left the club on a free transfer last summer before being lured back mid-season as injury cover. The former Arsenal goalkeeper made his name as one of the Premier League's most consistent performers over a lengthy career and leaves with 376 appearances in the competition across his clubs.

Disasi, on loan from Chelsea, made 17 appearances across all competitions and became a supporter favourite in central defence. The Frenchman partnered Konstantinos Mavropanos effectively and represented one of the brighter individual notes in a season of collective failure.

The six youth players departing are Michael Forbes, Junior Robinson, Tyron Akpata, Daniel Rigge, David Chigwada and Tom Wooster.

Nuno Espírito Santo will remain as manager for the Championship campaign, having been confirmed in post despite the relegation. The squad rebuild he faces is significant — captain Jarrod Bowen and midfield standout Mateus Fernandes are both expected to attract Premier League interest and could depart before pre-season begins.

West Ham United have been in the top flight for fourteen consecutive years. Now they have to find a way back.
