Vlahovic faces Besiktas temptation as Juventus deal for Lucumí stalls

Dusan Vlahovic's long-running contract dispute with Juventus has entered its final chapter, with Besiktas presenting the Serbian striker a substantial offer while the Turin club makes a last-ditch attempt to retain him.

Separately, talks with Bologna over centre-back Jhon Lucumí have revealed a valuation gap that could complicate their summer rebuild.

Vlahovic's contract expires on June 30 — nine days away. Juventus have tabled a final proposal of one year at €8 million including bonuses, per La Gazzetta dello Sport, with the option of extending to two years at the same salary. But Besiktas have gone further, presenting a package that includes a €5 million signing bonus on top of a salary reported to exceed what Juventus are prepared to match.

The Besiktas approach is personal as well as financial. The Istanbul club's new manager is Vincenzo Italiano, who coached Vlahovic at Fiorentina and considers the 26-year-old his ideal striker. Their time together in Florence represented the best form of Vlahovic's career, and Italiano has pushed hard to reunite with him.

Vlahovic has not yet accepted. Reports indicate he is inclined to use the Turkish club as leverage while holding out for an approach from a Champions League side. Barcelona and Bayern Munich are the destinations he prioritises; Chelsea and Napoli have also been linked.

Juventus director of football strategy Giorgio Chiellini had already indicated the direction of travel: "With these figures, he won't remain in Italy."

Juventus paid over €70 million to sign Vlahovic from Fiorentina in January 2022. He scored ten goals in twenty-three appearances last season, hampered by injuries. Losing him on a free transfer would be a damaging financial outcome, and the club has opened talks with Paris Saint-Germain over Randal Kolo Muani as a potential replacement.

On the defensive side, Juventus and Bologna have held talks covering several possible operations this summer, with Lucumí emerging as a key point of interest. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Colombian centre-back's name came up during a broader meeting between the two clubs — but Bologna want €25 million and Juventus are not prepared to meet that figure.

Lucumí, 27, has one year remaining on his contract and a €28 million release clause expiring in mid-July. He made 44 appearances across all competitions last season and is currently on World Cup duty with Colombia. Spalletti is a confirmed admirer.

The same meeting also covered the full-backs who swapped clubs in January. Emil Holm moved to Juventus, while João Mário went to Bologna on loan. Bologna are pushing to extend the João Mário arrangement for another season; Juventus's position on that has yet to be confirmed.

Bournemouth are also tracking Lucumí and could yet emerge as a rival should Juventus baulk at the asking price.
