Tottenham have agreed a loan deal to sign Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush, with an obligation to make the move permanent for £60m next summer, continuing a rapid overhaul of Roberto De Zerbi's attacking options in the closing days of the window.
The 27-year-old Egypt international will undergo a medical in the coming days before the move is finalised. He follows Savio in leaving City for Tottenham, arriving just days after the Brazilian winger completed his own switch to north London for an initial £75m fee on Tuesday, with a further £10m in add-ons that could take the total value of that deal to £85m.
Marmoush joined City from Eintracht Frankfurt for £59m in January 2025 on the back of a record-breaking start to that Bundesliga season, having scored 37 goals and provided 20 assists in 67 appearances for the German club overall. But he found himself playing second fiddle to Erling Haaland for much of his time at the Etihad Stadium, with his Premier League involvement declining sharply over the second half of last season despite an underlying expected-goals return that stayed close to his actual tally.
His diminishing role was clear in Manchester City's opening fixtures of the new season: he was introduced from the bench in the second half of a 3-0 Community Shield defeat by Arsenal, then an unused substitute as City opened their Premier League campaign with a 2-1 home win over Bournemouth.
The move continues a summer of heavy spending for Tottenham, who have now committed more than £312m to new signings as Daniel Levy's hierarchy backs Roberto De Zerbi following his appointment earlier this year.
The club have already brought in Mateus Fernandes from West Ham, Sandro Tonali from Newcastle and Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton, while defenders Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson, along with goalkeeper Martin Dubravka, have joined on free transfers.
For Manchester City, Marmoush's departure marks another significant change to Enzo Maresca's attacking options as the Italian reshapes the squad he inherited from Pep Guardiola this summer. It follows the departures of Bernardo Silva, Rodri and Tijjani Reijnders from midfield, with City recouping funds that have gone toward marquee signings including Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest for £116m and, most recently, Ayyoub Bouaddi from Lille for £85.6m.
