Ramon Terrats has completed a permanent move to Getafe, becoming Villarreal's sixth departure of the summer and returning to a club where he already has fond memories from a previous loan spell.

The transfer brings down the curtain on three and a half years at Villarreal for the Catalan midfielder, who arrived from Girona in January 2023 to bolster the reserve side in the second division. He soon caught the eye of then-first-team coach Quique Setien, though, and quickly became a regular starter under the Cantabrian.

Setien's departure at the start of the following season pushed Terrats down the pecking order, and by the 2024-25 campaign he was looking for a way out. Getafe came calling in the January window, and Terrats impressed enough during that loan spell - 16 appearances, four goals and an assist - to leave a lasting impression on Jose Bordalas.

He spent last season on loan at Espanyol instead, but with that club opting against a permanent deal, the door was left open for Getafe to complete a return this summer.

Terrats, 25, has signed a permanent contract at the Coliseum running until 2029, in a transfer reported to be worth between โ‚ฌ2.5m and โ‚ฌ3m. Across three seasons in Villarreal's first team he made 46 appearances, having initially arrived to strengthen a second string playing in the second tier.

His exit joins those of Alfonso Pedraza, Thomas Partey, Dani Parejo, Alfon Gonzalez and Rafa Marin as Villarreal continue to reshape their squad for the season ahead, with the sale also freeing up a first-team spot the club had not planned to fill with Terrats next season.

For Getafe, the deal reunites Terrats with a system he already knows well, having previously provided intensity, box-to-box running and a knack for arriving late into the penalty area during his loan spell under Bordalas.

The Madrid club had made a midfield reinforcement a priority this summer following Mauro Arambarri's departure, and Terrats' familiarity with the squad and the manager's demands made him a natural target once his path back to Villarreal's first team appeared blocked.
