Staveley's ambitions do not appear capped at the Gold family's quarter-share either — she is said to be open to building toward outright control if the opportunity arises.
The club's shareholder register is already crowded. David Sullivan holds 38.8%, though he stepped back from his co-chairman duties in June after a joint BBC Panorama and Times investigation aired allegations about his conduct towards women, claims Sullivan denies in full.
Daniel Kretinsky controls roughly 27% after a separate arrangement to buy further shares from Vanessa Gold, and while people close to him say he remains keen on West Ham, he has stopped short of wanting the entire Gold stake, a purchase that would tip him into outright majority ownership. Talks involving Staveley's group are reported to value the club at up to £600 million, though nothing is settled: pre-emption rights hand existing shareholders first refusal on any stock that becomes available, adding a further layer of complication.
Staveley and Ghodoussi are familiar figures in the Premier League ownership world, having exited Newcastle United in July 2024 after selling their stake in the Saudi-backed group that bought the club in 2021. Their investment vehicle, PCP Capital Partners, also lodged an early interest in Tottenham Hotspur following Daniel Levy's exit as chairman last year, though nothing came of it.
At West Ham, the unresolved ownership picture is already said to be freezing other decisions, including the hiring of a new sporting director, as the club aims for an immediate return to the Premier League from a Championship campaign in which they are among the favourites for promotion.
