Sangaré's new deal runs until the summer of 2029, rewarding a player who arrived from PSV for £30m back in 2023 and has since grown into an undroppable presence in the middle of the park, racking up 43 appearances across all competitions during the 2025/26 campaign.
The extension carries extra significance following the departure of his long-time midfield partner Elliot Anderson to Manchester City in a £116m deal, and comes as new manager Oliver Glasner, who succeeded Vitor Pereira at the City Ground, looks to build his squad around the Ivory Coast international.
Sangaré also featured for his country at this summer's World Cup, starting three of their four matches before their exit.
"I'm delighted to sign the new contract. It's a good moment too for me to thank the fans," Sangaré said. "Last season wasn't always easy, but they were always with us and I have always felt their support.
"It's been three years here and it has become a family for me in that time. I feel good, I have learned a lot, and worked hard to get to this point. I'm really looking forward to working with the new coach and for the season to start."
Chief Football Officer George Syrianos praised the midfielder's growing influence: "Ibra plays an important role in the team, he has the respect of his teammates and having been here for three years, he has a good understanding of what it means to represent Nottingham Forest. We are all delighted he has signed a new deal."
At the other end of the club's business, forward Joe Gardner has ended a decade-long association with Forest by joining Falkirk on a permanent transfer, having beaten interest from Oldham Athletic and several other EFL clubs to sign the 21-year-old.
Gardner, a Republic of Ireland Under-21 international, first arrived at the club as a 10-year-old back in 2016, climbing through every age group before eventually making his senior bow as a substitute in an FA Cup fourth-round tie against Bristol City, and later gained further experience away on loan at Lincoln City and Mansfield Town.
He remained a mainstay of Forest's B Team throughout, making more than 60 appearances and starting in their Premier League International Cup final win over Lyon in May 2025.
