Robertson made 378 appearances for Liverpool across all competitions, winning the Champions League in 2018-19, two Premier League titles, the FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup and Community Shield. He was appointed Liverpool vice-captain ahead of his final season at the club and leaves as one of the most decorated players in the modern history of the position.
The move had been in motion since January, when Tottenham first attempted to agree a deal during the winter window before Liverpool were unable to recall Kostas Tsimikas from his AS Roma loan as cover. Robertson subsequently lost his first-team starting berth to Miloš Kerkez, the summer signing who has since committed his long-term future to Liverpool under incoming manager Andoni Iraola.
Robertson turned down late interest from Juventus to confirm his move to north London, where he joins a Tottenham side that finished 17th in the Premier League last season and is undergoing a complete rebuild under manager Roberto De Zerbi.
Sporting director Johan Lange said: "First and foremost, he is an outstanding left-back — one of the best of all time in the Premier League, and someone who will improve our squad. His quality, character and leadership have been evident throughout a career in which he has regularly competed for — and won — major honours."
De Zerbi was equally enthusiastic.
"Andy is someone I've admired for a number of years. He will bring outstanding technical qualities, experience, leadership and mentality to our team.
"He is a proven winner at the highest level over a long period and is someone who can be a big player for us, both on and off the pitch."
Robertson began his career with Queen's Park in 2012 before spells at Dundee United and Hull City — where he won promotion to the Premier League in 2016 — preceded his £8m move to Liverpool in 2017. He has captained Scotland since September 2018, earning more than 90 caps, and this summer leads his nation at the World Cup — their first tournament appearance since France 1998.
He will join his new club after the conclusion of Scotland's World Cup campaign.
