The 21-year-old joined Brighton from VfB Stuttgart in September and has quickly made an impression in England. His first Premier League goal came in the 3-0 victory over Arsenal, adding to an assist in an earlier appearance and helping Brighton climb into the league’s top three.
Spanish newspaper AS reports that Real Madrid continue to follow Andrés’ progress. The midfielder came through their academy after joining at the age of 13, and his development has reportedly remained of interest to people at the club.
Andrés made a senior appearance for Real Madrid during the 2024-25 season, coming on for Luka Modrić in what proved to be the Croatian’s final match for the Spanish giants. He subsequently moved to Stuttgart in 2025, where he played an important role during his only season in Germany.
Stuttgart confirmed that Andrés had made 41 appearances for the club in all competitions before his departure. He scored four goals and supplied two assists during his time there, helping the team qualify for the Champions League and reach the German Cup final.
Brighton secured his signature in September, with reports in Germany putting the transfer fee at up to €23 million. He signed a contract running until 2031.
His early impact in the Premier League has strengthened the impression that Brighton have acquired a midfielder with considerable room to develop. Andrés has demonstrated an ability to contribute in possession while also arriving in dangerous positions, as his goal against Arsenal illustrated.
The midfielder is also a regular with Spain’s under-21 side, where he has competed alongside players including Marc Bernal and Mario Martín. His progress has placed him among the young Spanish midfielders attracting attention, although a place in the senior national team remains a future possibility rather than an immediate certainty.
Real Madrid’s reported interest comes with an important caveat. According to the Spanish report, the club no longer has a preferential option to re-sign Andrés following his move to Brighton. If Madrid decide they want him back, they may have to negotiate a new deal with the Premier League club.
For now, Andrés’ immediate task is to establish himself at Brighton. But his strong start has already brought his former club’s interest back into the conversation.
