Oliver Månsson is taking reports of Premier League interest in his stride after establishing himself in the IFK Göteborg first team, with the teenage midfielder revealing that Barcelona remains the club he dreams of hearing from.

The 17-year-old has made an impression in the Allsvenskan this season, registering three assists in 13 appearances, including 11 starts. IFK Göteborg promoted him to the senior squad in the spring, and he has since earned a regular place in midfield.

Reports in England linked Månsson with several Premier League sides. Swedish sources have reported the interest, with Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace and Sunderland among the clubs said to be monitoring his progress.

Speaking after IFK Göteborg’s 2-2 draw with AIK, Månsson told Sportbladet he had seen the speculation online but was not allowing it to distract him.

“I saw it on social media. It’s always fun to have interest,” he said.

The youngster was similarly relaxed when asked about the possibility of moving to England. He does not have a favourite Premier League team, explaining that his support has traditionally been directed towards Spain.

“No, I actually don’t have one. I don’t. It has been Barça for me, but… yes, it’s always fun to have interest if there’s something there. It is what it is,” Månsson told Expressen.

When Sportbladet joked that he was waiting for Barcelona to make contact, the midfielder played along.

“Haha, exactly,” he replied.

The comments underline that Månsson is not publicly pushing for a move, despite the attention surrounding his performances. For now, his progress at IFK Göteborg remains the immediate focus as he continues to gain experience in senior football.

His involvement against AIK also showed the responsibility he is beginning to carry. Månsson played the full match, his 11th start of the league campaign, in a fixture that ended level.

He was modest in his assessment of his own display, telling Sportbladet that there had been better performances from him but describing it as acceptable, adding that he had needed to battle in midfield.

The reported interest from England is still at the monitoring stage, with no bid or agreement reported in the supplied coverage. Månsson’s comments suggest he is happy to let the speculation develop without making any commitment about his next step.
