Real Betis are interested in signing 16-year-old Colombian prospect Kevin Cossio, although a formal proposal has yet to arrive, according to comments attributed to Cyclones sporting director Carlos Fernando Cardona.

Cossio has been developing with the Colombian club and has also featured in the country’s youth national-team setup. Betis have already had the opportunity to assess him at close quarters, with the youngster spending a fortnight on trial in Seville earlier this year.

“We are waiting for a formal proposal from Betis. The player was on trial for two weeks in March this year,” Cardona said.

The comments suggest that the Spanish club’s interest has been under consideration for several months, but there is not yet confirmation of an agreement or a completed transfer.

At 16, Cossio would represent a longer-term investment for Betis rather than an immediate first-team reinforcement. The club have regularly looked to identify young players who could develop within their system, although the available information does not establish what role the Colombian would be expected to take if a deal progresses.

His trial in March would have given Betis an opportunity to assess his ability and suitability for their development structure. However, with Cyclones still waiting for an offer, the next step rests with the Spanish club.

Cardona’s comments provide the clearest indication so far of the situation from the Colombian side. While Betis have shown enough interest to bring Cossio over for a trial, the process has not yet reached the stage of a formal proposal.

The teenager’s progress with Cyclones and Colombia’s youth teams has helped put him on the radar, but any move will depend on whether Betis decide to turn their interest into a concrete offer.

For now, Cossio remains with his current club as both sides await the next development. Betis have already had a chance to see him in training, but there is no confirmation that negotiations have advanced beyond the exploratory stage.
