Osasuna and Rayo Vallecano draw 1-1 as Budimir and Camello score

Camello, the player Rayo look to for goals, answered Budimir’s opener to earn the visitors a point, and Rayo now turn their attention to the visit of Athletic Club to Vallecas on 10 October.

Osasuna head coach Luis Miguel Ramis felt the draw was fair, but said his side had been imprecise and a little afraid.

“We wanted the three points, but the draw is fair. We faced a good team, with a lot of capacity to attract, combine, and we countered it well. The defensive order was good, the attack was another matter, where we were very imprecise,” Ramis said.

Speaking about the injury to Raúl Moro, he said the winger “doesn’t have the continuity we need and every time he builds up load a muscle injury appears. He has the advantage of these three weeks to get a bit ahead, and I hope to have him ready in two matches.”

Ramis pointed to the three defeats that came before this result.

Rayo Vallecano head coach Beñat San José was pleased to recover from a goal down and take a point back to Madrid.

“In the second half we started very well. In the end they also press and they are good. The finish was very intense. When we were very good, we could have turned it round to a win. We have got the draw, which is good, more so when you are losing. In the first half we were also good, but they came out more intense. The goal they scored against us frustrates me. He was asked about Camello’s absence from Luis de la Fuente’s Spain squad.

“He hasn’t gone, but I’m convinced that if he carries on like this, he will in future. There are very good nines and for Camello to be among them is important for him and for us. We are delighted with him.”
