Three-time NBA champion Udonis Haslem has revealed he became a minority owner of the Blues last September, announcing the news on Instagram after keeping the investment private for almost a year.
The 46-year-old, who spent his entire 20-year playing career at the Miami Heat alongside stars including LeBron James, Shaquille O'Neal, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, made his stake public after visiting Portman Road last month and meeting chief executive Mark Ashton. It is not yet clear what percentage of the club Haslem has acquired, but he is understood to have bought shares in the Blues via Portman Holdings.
"Basketball has been my life, but I've always respected the culture and impact of football," Haslem wrote, explaining that the club's "Running Towards Adversity" motto had convinced him to get involved and paraphrasing his excitement at combining his NBA background with a new chapter in the Premier League.
Haslem, who now works in the Heat's front office, becomes the latest high-profile American name to buy into English football, following the well-trodden path of NBA figures investing in Premier League and EFL clubs in recent years.
On the pitch, Ipswich Town have confirmed the departure of Wes Burns, who has joined Leicester City on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee. The Wales international, 31, was a key figure across Ipswich's back-to-back promotions after arriving in 2021, making 50 appearances as Town won promotion to the Championship and following that with 35 league outings and six goals as they sealed a second successive promotion to the Premier League.
Burns made 18 top-flight appearances before rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament against Liverpool in January 2025, returning after 11 months out to score in a crucial 2-0 win at Coventry on Town's route back to the Premier League.
He becomes Leicester's sixth summer signing under new manager Russell Martin, joining Sunderland loanee Tommy Watson and fellow Welshman Liam Cullen at the King Power Stadium. Burns said he was excited about the "massive ambition" at Leicester to return the club to where it once was.
