Napoli are rebuilding their forward line this summer with Udinese striker Keinan Davis identified as a concrete target, as Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku prepares to leave and Lorenzo Lucca's loan at Nottingham Forest ends without a permanent deal.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna and president Aurelio De Laurentiis are monitoring Davis closely ahead of the summer window. Lukaku, 31, was removed from head coach Antonio Conte's squad for the remainder of the season after failing to attend a training session, with a move to Saudi Arabia or MLS expected.

Davis, 28, has scored 10 goals and contributed three assists across 27 Serie A appearances this season — the third highest scoring tally in the division behind only Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martínez and Como's Fotis Douvikas. His goals-per-minute rate exceeds that of Danish forward Rasmus Hþjlund, currently on loan at Napoli from Manchester United with the Neapolitan club holding an obligation to buy if they secure Champions League qualification.

The Stevenage-born forward joined Udinese in 2023 after six years at Aston Villa that were disrupted by persistent injuries, having also spent time on loan at Nottingham Forest and Watford. He has vindicated the move entirely. His contract with Udinese runs until June 2027 with an option for a further year, and La Gazzetta values him at between €10million and €15million — a figure that reflects both his age and the uncertainty over whether this season represents a peak or a new baseline.

Napoli are also watching Andrea Pinamonti, the 26-year-old striker who has scored eight goals in 33 appearances for Sassuolo this season, as an alternative option. Brazilian forward Giovane, who arrived from Internacional in January, remains in the squad but is not considered suited to the physical centre-forward role Conte requires.

In midfield, Manna and De Laurentiis are tracking Ghanaian-Swedish Udinese midfielder Arthur Atta as a potential replacement for Cameroon international Frank Anguissa.

Napoli's transfer activity will be shaped by whether they finish inside the top four. Champions League qualification would trigger the Hþjlund obligation and free up funds elsewhere. Davis, at a fraction of that cost, offers a different kind of security — a player with something to prove, in the season of his life.
