Napoli are reportedly weighing a €40 million package for Barcelona midfielder Gavi, whose reduced playing time has prompted speculation about a possible January move to Serie A.

The proposed deal would consist of €30 million up front and a further €10 million in performance-related bonuses, according to reports in Spain relayed by Goal. No agreement has been announced, and the midfielder remains under contract with Barcelona until June 2030.

Gavi, 22, has struggled to secure a regular place in Hansi Flick’s midfield after injuries interrupted his progress. Increased competition for places has added to the uncertainty around his role, although the Spain international is understood to want to re-establish himself at the Catalan club.

Napoli are looking to strengthen their midfield and could view the Barcelona academy graduate as a potential long-term addition. The Italian side are reportedly assessing whether an offer in the region of €40 million could persuade Barcelona to consider a sale during the winter transfer window.

The reports suggest Gavi is no longer viewed as untouchable within Barcelona’s sporting plans, but that does not mean the club has decided to let him go. Any transfer would depend on the financial proposal, the player’s own wishes and whether his role changes over the coming weeks.

Gavi has already demonstrated his value at the highest level, combining aggressive pressing, technical ability and intensity in midfield. His development was disrupted by serious knee injuries, and consistent minutes will be important as he looks to return to his previous level.

For now, the priority is understood to be regaining prominence at Barcelona rather than forcing an exit. If his opportunities remain limited, Napoli’s interest could become more significant as the January window approaches.

The reported figures remain speculative, with no confirmed bid or negotiations publicly announced by either club. Barcelona’s position and Gavi’s willingness to consider a move will determine whether the story develops into a formal transfer pursuit.
