Milan are working two fronts as the transfer window enters its final week: scouting a potential long-term addition to Rúben Amorim's attacking midfield in Switzerland, while trying to push through the exit of a forward who never won the Portuguese coach over.
Speaking on Calciomercato - L'Originale, market expert Gianluca Di Marzio revealed that Milan have added Young Boys playmaker Alvyn Sanches to their list of targets.
"Milan have a player with great potential on their list, called Alvyn Sanches, from Young Boys, born in 2003, left-footed.
"In the first four matchdays of the Swiss league he's had 2 goals and 2 assists. Last season, 25 goals and 5 assists.
"He's on Milan's list, owner Gerry Cardinale likes him a lot, so do the people working on the transfer market, so does Amorim, but there's no negotiation open yet — there are serious evaluations and discussions to decide whether to open talks to bring him to Milan," Di Marzio said.
The 23-year-old, who wears the number 10 shirt in Bern, is regarded as one of the most exciting young talents in Swiss football and has previously operated as a central midfielder as well as behind the striker, a versatility that fits Amorim's favoured system.
While that situation remains at an early stage, Milan are much further along in moving on Santiago Giménez. Talks over a move to Porto are continuing, though the two clubs have yet to agree a final figure following their most recent contacts.
Porto head coach Francesco Farioli has been careful not to discuss individual targets publicly, telling reporters this week only that the club would not comment on deals that were not yet concrete, while confirming Porto's intention to complete further signings before the window closes.
Giménez already has a personal agreement in place with Porto, and the two clubs are expected to use the coming hours to establish whether there is room to finalise a deal. The Mexican forward joined AC Milan permanently for a fee in the region of €30m-35m depending on bonuses, signing a contract through to 30 June 2029.
Since arriving in Serie A he has made around 37 appearances and scored seven goals in all competitions for Milan, though a serious injury cost him much of last season and he has struggled to convince Amorim of his role in the current side.
