The Chilean coach is contracted until June 2027, yet reports from Spain and Chile have highlighted a clause that could allow him to leave before the end of that agreement if he receives a call from the Chile national team.
Pellegrini has been at Betis since 2020 and has become one of the defining figures of the club’s recent era. His current contract was extended last November, keeping him in charge through the end of the 2026-27 campaign.
The possibility of an early departure has nevertheless introduced another element into the discussion over his future.
According to reports from Estadio Deportivo, there is no sense of immediate alarm inside Real Betis. The club remains confident that Pellegrini will continue in the dugout and is even considering another renewal proposal.
Any new agreement would be expected to follow the recent pattern of annual extensions, although there is not yet a fixed date for the next formal discussions.
Pellegrini’s position is significant given what he has already achieved at the club. His arrival in 2020 began a period in which Betis established themselves as regular contenders for European football, while the 2022 Copa del Rey provided the first major trophy of his tenure.
The return to the Champions League has now added another major achievement to that record and increased the importance of deciding how the club’s next stage will look.
For Betis, the immediate picture is therefore one of continuity rather than an imminent managerial change. The club’s reported desire to extend Pellegrini’s contract sits alongside the possibility contained in his existing agreement.
The Chilean national team clause is also dependent on a specific event: a call from Chile. Without that happening, Pellegrini’s current contract remains in place until June 2027.
For now, Betis appear prepared to continue working with the coach while keeping discussions over a further extension open.
