After Arsenal, Tottenham came knocking — and Paul Parker admits Spurs were always his dream club.

“I had this love affair with QPR, but Spurs were my dream club,” he told Football Presse. “Everything seemed brilliant sitting there with Terry Venables at the Royal Lancaster Hotel. I thought, ‘Well, it looks like I’ll be staying in London. I don’t have to move.’”

The city, his social life, and the comfort of staying near home made the decision tempting.

“But then Manchester United came in,” Parker said. “And Terry said, ‘You’ve got to go out of respect, but if you don’t go, you could regret it.’”

It was a moment of reckoning. Could he leave London, the city he loved, for the unknown north? Or would he risk missing the opportunity of a lifetime?

“For me, it was clear: I knew I had to go,” he said. “I had to grab it.”
