The Madrid-born player will once again wear the Málaga shirt as the club prepares for its return to LaLiga, following a deal that had been eagerly anticipated by supporters after Dotor's key role in last season's promotion campaign.
Sporting director Loren Juarros had made keeping Dotor one of his priorities for the summer, with the midfielder's strong form and seamless fit within Juan Funes' system prompting Malaga to work on his return for several weeks. The agreement with Celta is now finalised, and the player himself had also made clear his willingness to continue his spell at La Rosaleda.
Dotor featured in 40 official matches last season across LaLiga Hypermotion and the Copa del Rey, scoring one goal and providing four assists, though his value to the team went well beyond the raw numbers. His work rate, physical presence and forward runs from midfield made him one of the most highly rated players among supporters as the campaign progressed.
His performances improved as the season went on, peaking at the most decisive moments, with his pressing intensity and ability to break forward with the ball giving Malaga's midfield a distinctive edge that proved important on the road back to the top flight.
Dotor's return also represents an addition capable of making an immediate impact for Funes, given his existing familiarity with the dressing room, coaching staff and city, meaning no adaptation period will be required. The versatile midfielder can operate either as an interior in a three-man midfield or in a more advanced role, giving his coach further tactical flexibility.
The deal represents Malaga's third signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Fernando Calero and Juan Cruz, as the club continues shaping a squad capable of competing for survival following its return to LaLiga's top division.
For Celta Vigo, the extension allows Dotor to continue developing at a club where he has clearly found the trust and playing time he was seeking, having previously spent loan spells at Real Oviedo and Sporting Gijon before establishing himself at Malaga.
