The Spaniard, who guided PSG to their first ever Champions League title last season and is chasing back-to-back European triumphs, spoke to L'รquipe ahead of the final and made clear that Arsenal's Premier League title win โ confirmed when Manchester City drew at Bournemouth on Tuesday โ changes nothing in terms of the challenge PSG face.
"It is impossible to know whether it changes anything for us. They deserve to win the Premier League. They have had an incredible season."
He then offered a characteristically analytical breakdown of what makes Arsenal so difficult to play against โ an assessment rooted in PSG's own experience of facing Mikel Arteta's side during the knockout rounds.
"We have experience of playing against Mikel Arteta's Arsenal and we know their ability to play both with and without the ball. Without the ball, they are the best team in the world, and with it they can score many goals."
PSG and Arsenal met in the semi-finals of last season's Champions League, with Arsenal eliminated in controversial circumstances following a refereeing incident in the second leg at the Parc des Princes that was widely criticised. The rematch in the final โ Arsenal's first European Cup final since 2006 โ carries an additional edge for both clubs and their supporters.
Luis Enrique won the Champions League with Barcelona in 2015 and added the trophy with PSG twelve months ago, making him one of only a handful of coaches to have won the competition with different clubs.
Arsenal go into the final on the back of a historic league season. They have conceded only 28 Premier League goals โ the fewest by a champion since Mourinho's Chelsea in 2004-05 โ and kept 19 clean sheets across the campaign.
