Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes is expected to head to the Saudi Pro League, with this summer's transfer market set to be his final one at the club.

Hughes moved to Anfield in March 2024 and signed a contract through to the summer of 2027.

After that, he is set to leave for Al Hilal, joining former Bournemouth teammate Simon Francis.

Francis has already joined Al Hilal and is leading the club's transfer activity.

The Athletic reports that he and the club are currently operating on the basis that Hughes will indeed make the move and become part of their hierarchy.

Francis and Hughes were teammates at Bournemouth during their playing careers and later worked together in the club's technical department.

Francis ultimately replaced Hughes as Bournemouth's technical director when Hughes left for Liverpool.

For now, Hughes remains focused on his remit at Liverpool, which includes the club's current transfer business and supporting new head coach Andoni Iraola.

It is understood that this will be his final transfer window before a transition period that allows his replacement to settle into the role.
