Spain coach Luis de la Fuente praised the intensity of his players following a convincing 4-0 victory over Saudi Arabia.

Teenage sensation Lamine Yamal enjoyed a dream full debut by netting his first tournament goal just 29 minutes into his World Cup career.

The young Barcelona forward expressed his absolute delight at scoring on the grandest stage with his immediate family watching from the stands.

"I’ve always dreamed of being at a World Cup, and being able to score in my first match as a starter is a dream," Yamal said.

"I watched the last World Cup from a classroom so being able to score here with my mum and my family in the stands is a dream come true."

"That was the plan, to play for a half and get some rest, but above all to help the team," Yamal added. "The first game wasn't really us, it was different, but now we've arrived and we're going for more.

"It turned out the way we wanted—being 3-0 up allowed me to rest so it was perfect. Drawing a match that you know you should win stings."

"It made us think a lot, and it helped us approach this match exactly how we wanted to."

Saudi Arabia manager Georgios Donis admitted his players became deeply insecure after conceding three rapid first-half goals against the European side.

"Everyone can see that when there are players like Yamal, with individual traits and one-versus-one ability like his, they make a difference," Donis said.

"He does this so often in Spain and, as he gains better fitness, he will be even more effective."

"We were not strong enough to stop Spain around our penalty area," Donis continued. "We made too many mistakes.

"When a game is not going well, and when you concede three goals very quickly, you feel insecure."

"We calmed the team down but we were affected. That is something we often see in major tournaments. I think that is obvious. It is not fear. But you can feel insecure when things are not going well."

Luis de la Fuente confirmed the teenage attacker is in perfect condition to handle full matches as the tournament progresses into the knockout rounds.

"Lamine is in perfect condition to take on full matches now," De la Fuente stated. "And what can we say about Oyarzabal?

"He’d been dealing with a minor issue—you can't share everything—but he always delivers an exceptional performance."

"Obviously, we had to see how the match developed, but today was an important step for what's to come," the manager explained.

"Lamine is already in perfect condition, and it's also good to take him off like that, leaving him hungry for more."

"We played an exceptional first half and a good second half too," De la Fuente added.

"Above all, this allows us to maintain our momentum and face the important games ahead. Uruguay is going to be a difficult and very tough match. We'd reviewed it with the players and we all agreed that we needed more verticality and more intensity.

"You could see it in our shots—from the very first minute we were suffocating the opponent and pinning them back into their own box," the coach concluded. "We are very happy with that approach, but we have to keep growing and improving."

Spain have sent a clear message to their tournament rivals with an incredibly dominant display of attacking football.

The technical staff will now focus on preparing the squad for a physical encounter against South American giants Uruguay.
