The France international made the comments after playing in the third-place play-off at the World Cup, which France lost 6-4 to England. Koundé's name resurfaces in the transfer press every summer, but the defender was adamant that his sole focus now is on resting before returning to help Hansi Flick's side next term.
"The first thing I'll do is rest well so I can be ready for the season. I hope to have a great campaign and help Barça as much as possible," Koundé told DAZN after the final whistle.
The 27-year-old heads into his break with Barcelona firmly the only club on his mind. Six weeks ago, while away with the national team, he sent an equally clear message about his situation.
"I hope to stay at Barça," he said on 3 June.
Koundé reiterated that stance on Saturday night, explaining he will use the rest period to return in the best possible condition. The centre-back, who has also featured at right-back for the Catalan side, signed a new contract with Barcelona in August 2025 that runs until 2030.
He was an important presence for Flick last season, making 45 appearances in all competitions as Barcelona won the league title, the Spanish Super Cup and the Copa del Rey.
Koundé joined Barcelona from Sevilla in 2022 for an initial fee of around €50m and has since established himself as one of Flick's most trusted defenders, having converted from centre-back into a regular right-back during his time at the club.
France's elimination in the third-place play-off brought the curtain down on a long international summer for Koundé, who was among the squad's most consistent performers across the tournament. Les Bleus were unable to add to their trophy collection after England claimed bronze in a high-scoring encounter, but Koundé's form throughout the competition will have done little to cool interest from elsewhere, even if he insists a move is not on his mind.
That transfer speculation has become something of a summer ritual around the defender, with his name regularly linked to clubs elsewhere in Europe. Barcelona, though, moved to secure his long-term future last year, tying him down well before this year's exit-window chatter began.
Koundé's versatility has been central to his value under Flick, who has used him both in the heart of defence and on the right of the back four. That adaptability has made him one of the first names on the team sheet whenever he is fit.
Barcelona are expected to reconvene for pre-season training in the coming weeks, with Koundé set to link up once his rest period concludes.
