The 20-year-old has become one of the most closely watched young strikers in European football after a breakthrough campaign in the Bundesliga, one that included a standout display against Arsenal in last season's Champions League last-16 tie. Asked directly whether he could see himself playing in England one day, Kofane did not rule it out.
"I can certainly imagine it, yes. It's one of the best leagues in the world," he said.
But the Cameroon international was equally clear that he has no intention of rushing his next move.
"I want to take it step by step. I'm young and still have big plans with Bayer Leverkusen," he said.
"Bayer Leverkusen is a great club that has given me a great opportunity and a lot of confidence. I feel very comfortable here."
Kofane's comments come amid growing speculation over his future, much of it fuelled by his agent, Eric Depolo, who said earlier this year that Arsenal's interest was "genuine" and that Mikel Arteta "likes him very much."
Depolo has also named Chelsea, Newcastle United, Everton, Brentford, Barcelona and Bayern Munich among the clubs monitoring the situation, though he suggested Arsenal could hold an edge given the forward's Spanish and the presence of friend William Saliba in their squad.
More recent reporting has also linked Newcastle with a fresh approach, with Arsenal's chief scout Andrea Berta said to have stayed in close contact with Kofane's representatives throughout the summer.
Leverkusen's sporting managing director, Simon Rolfes, has previously moved to dampen the speculation, insisting the club has no intention of selling.
"We are planning with him for next season," Rolfes said. That stance has not stopped rival clubs from continuing to monitor his situation closely as the summer window enters its final weeks.
Kofane joined Leverkusen from Spanish second-tier side Albacete last summer for a fee above his €5 million release clause, having scored eight goals in 20 Segunda División appearances to force through the move. He has since gone on to make an impact in Germany, contributing seven goals and eight assists in 39 appearances across all competitions, while also winning his first senior caps for Cameroon and scoring twice at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Standing at 1.89m, he has drawn comparisons for his combination of physical presence and mobility, qualities that were on full display when Leverkusen faced Arsenal home and away in the Champions League last season. For now, though, his focus remains firmly on Leverkusen rather than any move to the Premier League.
