Klopp, who managed Liverpool for nine years before leaving in 2024 and is now head of global football at Red Bull, spoke to BBC Sport ahead of the finals in North America, where he will attend in his capacity as a German television pundit and global ambassador for Budweiser.
The German coach has been a long-time admirer of Wirtz, who joined Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen last summer in a deal worth up to £116 million. The 22-year-old has had an uneven debut season at Anfield, but contributed a goal and an assist in Liverpool's 3-1 Premier League win over Crystal Palace at the weekend.
"I hope Flo Wirtz will have a fantastic, fantastic World Cup," Klopp said. "I think he has everything you need to be a standout player. I don't want to put any pressure on the boy. I really think he showed already how good he can be in a difficult season."
Wirtz is expected to play a central role for Germany at the tournament, with the four-time world champions looking to reach the knockout stages for the first time since winning the trophy in Brazil in 2014.
Klopp reserved particular warmth for the match-up between Scotland's Andrew Robertson and Brazil's Alisson Becker, Liverpool teammates who could yet face each other in the group stage. Scotland are appearing at a World Cup for the first time in decades.
"Can you imagine that you play together for such a long time and Scotland qualifies for the World Cup and you meet each other, your friends, in a game like that? That must be one of the happiest moments in your life."
He also sent personal messages to Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mané and Alexis Mac Allister, the latter of whom won the World Cup with Argentina in 2022 while still at Brighton.
"I honestly wish that Sadio will have a great tournament. Macca, if they win it again — it was so nice to see him with a medal around his neck when he came back to Brighton."
