Juventus have exercised their counter-option to sign back Daffara, the club have confirmed, following an excellent season on loan at Avellino in Serie B.
Daffara, born in 2004, joined Juventus's youth system at a young age and progressed quickly through the club's academy, making his professional debut for the Next Gen side as early as March 2023. He went on to become the team's first-choice goalkeeper, making 83 appearances across all competitions.
He was involved with Juventus's first team on several occasions during the 2024-25 season, before moving to Avellino on loan for the campaign just finished, where he impressed in Italy's second tier.
His performances in Serie B earned him a call-up to the Italy national team in recent weeks, capping a breakthrough season that has clearly convinced Juventus to bring him back into the fold rather than allow his rights to pass to Avellino.
The decision to trigger the counter-option underlines the value Juventus place on Daffara's development, with the goalkeeper now set to be assessed for a role within the club's senior plans following a loan spell that significantly raised his profile across Italian football.
Daffara's path mirrors that of several other young goalkeepers who have used loan spells in Serie B to accelerate their development before returning to a parent club with significantly enhanced credentials. His consistency at Avellino, allied with his Next Gen pedigree, has positioned him as a genuine option for Juventus to consider for either a backup role or a further loan move to continue gaining senior experience.
The Italy call-up represents the clearest signal yet of how highly Daffara is now regarded within Italian football, with the 21-year-old's rapid rise from academy prospect to full international recognition coming in the space of just a few seasons since his professional debut for Juventus's second team.
