David Puczka has emerged as one of the most unexpected stories of Juventus's season โ€” a left-back who scores like a forward, and who has caught the attention of both his own club and rivals abroad.

The 20-year-old Austrian joined Juventus Next Gen from Admira Wacker in July 2024 and has become the reserve side's top scorer this season, netting 10 goals in Serie C โ€” a remarkable return for a defender.

Half of those goals have come from the penalty spot, but his all-round impact has been impossible to ignore. He has also chipped in with assists and driven Juventus Next Gen's push near the top of Serie C Group B, with the side still fighting for promotion to Serie B.

The performances have drawn interest from outside. Red Bull Salzburg and a couple of German clubs, including Hertha Berlin, have already identified Puczka as a summer target.

Juventus, however, have no intention of letting him walk out the door cheaply. The club is planning to include Puczka in the first-team training camp this summer, giving him the opportunity to work under both reserve coach Massimo Brambilla and senior head coach Luciano Spalletti.

The timing matters. Spalletti is actively seeking reinforcements on the left flank and has been monitoring Puczka's development. A strong pre-season showing could accelerate the Austrian's push for a senior role.

His contract runs until the summer of 2027, giving Juventus full control over his future and no urgency to sell.

Puczka grew up in the Admira Wacker academy near Vienna and has represented Austria at under-21 level. His route to Juventus's setup has been unconventional, but the numbers this season have done the talking.

For a left-back with a striker's instincts, this summer's training camp could be the moment everything changes.
