In his first interview since completing the move from Liverpool, the midfielder outlined the versatility he hopes to bring to Cristian Chivu's squad.
"Over the years I've refined my style of play, sometimes I've played as a right-back, sometimes as a forward. I can play in different areas of the pitch, but above all my main goal is to score goals and provide assists to help the team," he said.
"I'm willing to work hard and do whatever's necessary to help the team win. This group is full of talented players with plenty of experience โ it's a great team with strong foundations. I want to try to give it an extra boost."
Jones, who has a young daughter, spoke warmly about settling his family into life in Milan.
"I hope it will be exciting: I have a little girl and a wife who, like me, are happy to be part of this new chapter," he said. "They're an important part of my life โ I just wanted to come here and now I want to help the team. My personal life is always happy: my daughter is always full of joy, as is my wife, that's why they just want the best for me."
On the standard of Serie A and what he has seen of Inter so far, Jones was effusive.
"I've already played against Inter โ they're a team that loves playing with the ball. There are players here who can score plenty of goals, provide assists and create lots of chances," he said. "This is a united team, you can feel it โ Inter can compete against the best in the world. On top of that, I can feel the hunger here, and the fans' support is incredible, the Inter fans really are the 12th man on the pitch. The team has great balance in terms of goals, assists, talent, experience... it's an exciting team."
Elsewhere, one of Inter Milan's other new arrivals attracted comment from the manager he left behind. Roberto De Zerbi, speaking as Tottenham manager, addressed Djed Spence's roughly โฌ30m move to Inter in his pre-match press conference, admitting he was disappointed to lose the full-back but insisting the decision had been the player's own to make.
"I'm disappointed by him. I like him a lot, we have a great relationship, he's a good lad and a really important player," De Zerbi said. "But I have to respect his choice: if he wants to play 38 matches, I can't give him any guarantees, especially when we're trying to build healthy competition within the squad.
"At right-back we have one of the best players in the world, on the left we have Udogie and Robertson and they're both at the highest level. If you decide not to stay at Tottenham accepting what happens, then you have to leave."
De Zerbi also used the same press conference to set out his own early priorities at Tottenham.
"One of the first missions of our season is to find the soul of this team," he said. "To find it, everyone here has to do it with the right spirit, proud to be at Tottenham, with great ambition and great motivation. Otherwise it's hard โ a season with me without ambition and without motivation becomes hard for anyone."
