Inter Milan and Racing Club de Avellaneda have reached an agreement in principle to extend Valentín Carboni's loan by another 12 months, according to Argentine newspaper Olé, keeping the 21-year-old attacking midfielder in his homeland until December 2027.
The Argentine, back in his native country after a serious right knee injury derailed the start of last season, will use the extra year to try to return to full fitness and recapture the form that once made him one of Inter's most promising academy products.
The extension retains a development clause that has already benefited Racing once: for every block of four appearances of at least 20 minutes Carboni makes, Inter will pay the Argentine club approximately €175,000. That bonus has been triggered only once since Carboni's arrival, on 14 February, reflecting how little football the injury has allowed him to play.
Carboni originally joined Racing on loan in January, without a fee or purchase option attached, after an injury-hit spell on loan at Genoa was cut short.
He remains under contract to Inter until June 2029, and the extended stay in Argentina gives both clubs more time to help him rebuild before any decision is made about his longer-term future in Europe.
