Emil Holm is set to return to Bologna after Juventus reject their purchase option, with Everton, Brighton, Brentford and Sunderland all interested in the Sweden right-back this summer.

Holm, 25, joined Bologna from Spezia in the summer of 2024 having spent the previous season on loan at Atalanta, where he won the Europa League.

He moved to Juventus on loan in February, with the Turin club holding a purchase option of โ‚ฌ16m. Tuttosport had reported in recent weeks that Juventus wanted to extend the loan rather than buy, and now Il Resto del Carlino confirms that the purchase option will not be triggered.

The right-back made six competitive appearances for Juventus before a calf injury disrupted his time in Turin. He contributed one goal and four assists across 17 Serie A appearances in total this season between both clubs.

Everton are the most prominently linked Premier League side. The club needs a long-term successor to Seamus Coleman, the Republic of Ireland international who leaves Goodison Park this summer after 17 years having already bid an emotional farewell. Holm's profile โ€” technically assured, physically imposing at 1.92m and capable of contributing as an attacking outlet โ€” fits the requirements.

Brighton, Brentford and Sunderland are also understood to have made enquiries. Sunderland's presence on the list reflects their ambitions following promotion to the Premier League, while Brentford's interest aligns with their established policy of signing technically developed Europeans.

Bologna are open to selling rather than bringing Holm back as a squad player with limited prospects of game time at the club. The World Cup in June represents a natural showcase window โ€” Holm is included in Sweden's squad and a strong tournament could influence both his market value and the list of interested clubs.
