Mason Greenwood has been given a rousing reception by Fenerbahce supporters after completing his move to Fenerbahce, with the forward sold by Marseille in a deal worth around €40m before bonuses.

The 24-year-old had already taken time to say farewell to Marseille fans before landing in Turkey, where he was greeted by a crowd of Fenerbahce supporters delighted to welcome their new signing.

Speaking after his arrival, Greenwood reflected warmly on the reception he received and the process that led him to Istanbul.

"It was a long process. It took time to finalise it. I'm very happy to be at Fenerbahce. I thank everyone who welcomed me. I'm ready and eager to begin this adventure. It's incredible to feel such support, the Fenerbahce fans are fantastic. I hope I can repay that love by scoring goals on the pitch," he said.

The former Manchester United forward also spoke about the personal side of the move, with his family set to relocate to Turkey alongside him.

"My family is also very excited. My partner is delighted to discover Turkish culture. We have two daughters, it will be a wonderful experience. We can't wait to be here," Greenwood said.

Greenwood leaves Marseille after two productive seasons in Ligue 1, during which he established himself as one of the club's most important attacking players and significantly rebuilt his career on the pitch, registering close to 50 goals across his time at the Stade Vélodrome.

His departure represents a record departure fee for Marseille, eclipsing the club's previous highest sale, with the Turkish club moving quickly to beat off competition from elsewhere in Europe to complete the signing. Manchester United, his boyhood club, are also understood to benefit financially from the deal through a sell-on clause included when Greenwood left Old Trafford.

He becomes the latest high-profile arrival at Fenerbahce this summer as the club looks to strengthen its squad for a season in which it will aim to challenge domestic rivals Galatasaray for the Super Lig title, joining fellow new recruits brought in as part of a significant squad rebuild under the club's coaching staff. The scale of the investment reflects Fenerbahce's determination to end Galatasaray's recent dominance of Turkish football, with Greenwood expected to play a central role in attack from the very start of the campaign.
