The Spanish club are targeting two experienced free agents, but Torres admits that persuading Sancho to move to the Coliseum could prove particularly difficult.
Speaking to El Partidazo de COPE, Torres revealed that he had made a fresh offer to the former Manchester United winger after pursuing him for four months. Sancho, 26, has been without a club since leaving United and has attracted interest from elsewhere, including the prospect of offers from Qatar.
“That’s absolutely true. I’ve been working on that for four months. He has become a free agent. We’ve made him a final offer. He’s 26, so this one is more complicated. He comes from Manchester and Aston Villa. He has offers from Qatar and various other places,” Torres said.
Getafe are hoping the prospect of regular football can help convince the England international. Torres confirmed that he had spoken to Sancho but was leaving the decision to the player and his representative.
“I don’t speak languages. Above all, I’ve been speaking to his agent, and I’ve spoken to him as well. We’re waiting to see what he decides.
"Now that he’s a free agent, perhaps things will change and he’ll want to play. Next year, God will decide. He’s 26 and very good. We have to be patient, not put pressure on him and let him decide.”
The club are also pursuing Dani Parejo, the 37-year-old midfielder who previously played for Getafe between 2009 and 2011. Torres said he had spoken directly to the player and would not abandon the attempt if Parejo wanted to proceed.
“It depends on him. I’ve spoken to him, and we’re waiting to give him a few days. If he says yes, I’m not going to back away,” the president said.
The two potential deals follow Getafe’s successful move for Dani Carvajal, who signed after leaving Real Madrid. The 34-year-old defender agreed to a deal through the end of the season, with the club needing financial backing to complete his registration.
Torres also acknowledged the impact of injuries, particularly the loss of Uche, and said he hoped head coach José Bordalás would remain at the club.
The president’s latest comments underline Getafe’s strategy of seeking experienced players on free transfers, although neither Sancho nor Parejo has yet committed to joining.
