Getafe are considering a move for Jadon Sancho as they look to add attacking quality to their squad, although the financial demands of the England international could prove difficult to overcome.

The interest was reported by DAZN journalist Pablo Pinto and subsequently covered by Mundo Deportivo, which identified the winger’s salary as the biggest obstacle to a potential deal.

Sancho, 26, is available as a free agent following the end of his Manchester United contract. His ability to operate on either flank makes him an attractive option for Getafe head coach José Bordalás, who values his dribbling and one-on-one ability.

However, the reported salary requirement of around €4 million would stretch the Madrid-based club’s financial resources. Getafe are now examining whether they can find sufficient room within La Liga’s squad-cost limits to make the transfer possible.

One possibility reportedly being considered involves seeking additional salary-cap flexibility following the injury to winger Juanmi. Registering a long-term injury absence could potentially free up room, although it would not automatically make Sancho’s wages affordable.

Getafe have already strengthened their squad by signing former Real Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal on a contract running until June 2027. They are also exploring the possibility of bringing in midfielder Dani Parejo as they continue to assess their options.

Sancho would represent another high-profile addition, bringing experience from Borussia Dortmund, Manchester United and Aston Villa. His best performances have come at Dortmund, where his ability to beat defenders and create opportunities established him as one of Europe’s most promising wide attackers.

The winger has also played for England at international level, making 23 appearances for his country.

A move to Getafe would offer him an opportunity to continue his career in Spain, but the club must first determine whether the financial arrangements are realistic.

For now, the reported interest remains exploratory rather than a completed agreement. Getafe are investigating possible ways to accommodate Sancho, with his salary likely to determine whether discussions can progress further.

The club’s recent recruitment activity demonstrates its ambition to strengthen the squad, but any move for Sancho will depend on whether the numbers can be made to work within La Liga’s financial regulations.
