Genoa have added a proven international presence to Daniele De Rossi's midfield, confirming the permanent signing of Djibril Sow from Sevilla.
The RossoblĂč announced in an official statement that the paperwork with the Spanish club has been completed and that the Switzerland international has passed a medical at the CDS clinic in Genoa and signed a multi-year contract, arriving fresh off the back of the World Cup with his national team.
Born on 6 February 1997, Sow brings a wealth of experience to Liguria: he has won 56 caps for Switzerland, featured at two World Cups and one European Championship, and lifted the Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt in 2021/22.
He also won the Swiss Super League twice with Young Boys, in 2017/18 and 2018/19, and had a spell at Borussia Mönchengladbach before joining Sevilla, where he made 87 appearances and scored eight goals since 2023.
Across his club career, including his time in youth football and appearances in the Champions League and Europa League, Sow has played 421 matches, scoring 30 goals and providing 39 assists. Reports in the Italian and Spanish press have put the transfer fee in the region of âŹ4m-âŹ5m, though the figure has not been officially confirmed by either club.
Genoa's Chief of Football, Diego Lopez, welcomed the new arrival: "Djibril brings experience, know-how, tactical intelligence and dynamism.
"He is a complete midfielder and a player ready to provide real value. We are very pleased to have completed this deal.

Sow himself struck a determined tone as he looks to make an impact in Serie A.
"After the Super League and the Bundesliga, I'm arriving at Genoa with the desire to test myself in a tough competition like Serie A," he said. "There is a lot of work to do to achieve results, and I am determined to start this new adventure on the right foot."
The move gives De Rossi another option in a Genoa midfield being reshaped over the summer, with the club also parting ways with Alessandro Vogliacco, who has joined Cremonese on a permanent deal after 58 appearances and two goals for the RossoblĂč.
Sow's arrival adds further depth and international pedigree to a Genoa squad aiming to build on last season's results and consolidate its place in Serie A under De Rossi.
