The club confirmed the appointments after announcing the end of its professional relationship with López, who had overseen the technical area as chief of football.
In a statement, Genoa thanked the departing executive for his work, highlighting his commitment, professionalism and contribution to the development of the club’s sporting structure.
“The Genoa CFC wishes to express its heartfelt thanks for the commitment, the development of the various areas of the sporting structure, the dedication and the great professionalism demonstrated during his tenure leading the Rossoblù technical area,” the statement read.
The club also wished López well for the next stage of his professional career.
Modesto will take responsibility for the strategic management and overall direction of Genoa’s technical department. The former football executive has experience at both domestic and international level, and will be expected to help shape the club’s recruitment policy and broader sporting planning.
Melissano, meanwhile, takes charge of the first-team sporting department. His responsibilities include supporting the technical staff in the selection and management of players, as well as overseeing transfer-market operations.
Genoa said the appointments were intended to continue the club’s development and the improvement of its playing squad, with the two executives taking complementary roles across the football operation.
The changes represent a significant adjustment to the club’s leadership structure, with Modesto responsible for strategic direction and Melissano concentrating on first-team management and recruitment.
The club’s announcement did not outline specific transfer targets or immediate changes to the squad. The new leadership team will now begin its work as Genoa seek to strengthen their sporting structure and plan for upcoming transfer windows.
