The move, agreed over the weekend, will see Barcelona pay Arsenal a reported €10m guaranteed plus a further €4m in variables for the 29-year-old, according to Fabrizio Romano, though Matteo Moretto has reported a different structure worth around €15m for 80% of the player's economic rights.
Jesus will sign a contract for two seasons with a further year as an option.
The move was not the marquee centre-forward signing Hansi Flick had originally targeted. Barcelona's priority all summer had been Julián Álvarez, but Atlético Madrid's refusal to sanction a sale to a direct rival ended that pursuit, with the club also mindful of financial fair play restrictions that limit how far they can stretch their spending even if the Argentine becomes available in a future window.
Jesus instead emerged as an opportunity too good to turn down, arriving to fill the void left by the departures of Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres.
Before any deal could be finalised, Barcelona needed reassurance over the striker's fitness. Jesus ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in January 2025, and while he has been fully recovered for some time, the club wanted the injury independently confirmed as sound before completing the signing.
He addressed the issue directly on arrival in Barcelona on Monday, telling reporters simply: "My knee is perfect." Asked about the move itself, he added only: "I'm very happy to be here."
Jesus passed his medical on Monday afternoon and was due to watch that evening's LaLiga fixture against Rayo Vallecano from the directors' box at Spotify Camp Nou alongside his family, with the club planning to make the move official and hold his official presentation as early as Tuesday morning.
The forward, who can operate across all three attacking positions, joined Arsenal from Manchester City in 2022 for a reported £45m, and leaves north London with 123 appearances for the Gunners to go with 236 for City, scoring 127 goals across both spells in the Premier League. Injuries and increased competition for the centre-forward spot, with Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyökeres both ahead of him in Arsenal's pecking order, had limited his role at the Emirates in recent months.
His contract in north London had run until June 2027. With the paperwork now the only remaining step, Barcelona hope to have their new forward in training under Flick within days.
